BASKETBALL
Scotlandville Sports Academy will participate in the Baton Rouge Recreation and Park Commission (BREC) Junior Sports Basketball League. The Scotlandville Sports Academy organized seven (7) Scotlandville Sports Academy Hornets Basketball Teams serving youth boys & girls ages 4 through 14. The BREC Basketball Season will begin practice starting the first week in November. Basketball practices are held at assigned BREC gyms. Eight (8) volunteer coaches will facilitate the practice and game times. Practices are held twice a week between 6:00 –8:00 p.m., at the Anna T Jordan BREC gym for ages 4-8, at the Mills Street BREC and Monte Sano BREC gyms for ages 9-10, 11-12, & 13-14. Games are held on Saturday mornings from January through March.

The Hope Award is awarded to our Student-Athletes during that current season for academic excellence shown through participation in our “My Eyes Have Seen The Glory: The Power Of Knowledge” program . The program services all student athletes participating in our sports programs. The program consists of reading assignments, essay contests, math bowls, spelling bees, and educational field trips. The program focuses on instilling the desire and awakening the senses of the power of learning.
